A Florida court has refused to allow the US Department of Justice to publish materials on the case of financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of trafficking minors and sexual crimes. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on July 23.

"A federal judge in Florida rejected the request from the administration of [US President Donald] Trump wants to publish the transcripts of the grand jury meeting investigating disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein," the publication says.

It is clarified that such a court decision prevented Trump from getting rid of criticism from those who talk about his ties with Epstein.

As the NYT notes with reference to Judge Robin Rosenberg, the US government did not request testimony from the jury. According to her, district courts are generally prohibited from disclosing such information.

The Politico newspaper reported on July 21 that the rules committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress announced the "August holidays" after demands from members of the Democratic and Republican parties to release the materials of the Epstein case. It was clarified that consideration of the issue would continue after a one-month break.

Earlier, on July 17, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Trump allegedly gave Epstein a letter with a naked woman on his 50th birthday. The publication noted that in it the head of state wished the financier "wonderful secrets every day."

On July 18, Trump filed a lawsuit against WSJ owner Rupert Murdoch for publishing an alleged erotic gift to Epstein. On July 20, it became known about the 15-year friendship between the US president and the financier.
