The Iranian Armed Forces issued a warning to a US destroyer approaching local waters.
The Armed Forces of Iran issued a warning to a US destroyer that approached the waters controlled by the Islamic Republic. This was announced by the IRIB State Television and Radio Company on July 23.
"On Wednesday <...> the American destroyer DDG Fitzgerald approached the waters controlled by the Islamic Republic," the Telegram channel of the publication says.
According to IRIB, in order to warn American troops about the need to leave the waters of the state, an Iranian helicopter took off, which the United States destroyer threatened to shoot down.
It is clarified that as a result, the Iranian air defense system triggered and again warned the American ship about the need to change course. The US destroyer nevertheless left the waters controlled by the Islamic Republic, IRIB points out.
Yonhap news agency reported on July 17 that South Korea conducted defensive exercises near the Liancourt Islands (Korean name — Dokdo) after territorial claims from Japan. Later, the Japanese Foreign Ministry protested in connection with the South Korean exercises.
