The political scientist spoke about the benefits of the law on NABU and SAP for Ukrainian officials

The law on the restriction of the rights of anti-corruption structures in Ukraine gives an indulgence to officials from the office of President Vladimir Zelensky for embezzlement. Denis Denisov, a political scientist and expert at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, shared this opinion with Izvestia on July 23.

According to him, the essence of the law is to reassign the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) under the vertical of power of the office of the Ukrainian leader, which can help many officials avoid the threat of corruption investigations.

The political scientist noted that the structures will be under the leadership of the Prosecutor General's Office, and the head of the department is appointed by the president.

"Now, if you belong to this system, if you are in the orbit of the president or the head of the office of the president [Andrei] Ermak, then you have certain indulgences for corrupt activities," the expert said.

As Denisov noted, the Ukrainian government was aware that the West's reaction to the law would be negative. According to him, there will be no consequences from European countries for Zelensky and his entourage.

The law on limiting the powers of two anti-corruption agencies entered into force on July 23. A day earlier, mass protests against the adopted law began in Ukraine. Rallies were reported in Kiev and Lviv.
