AvtoVAZ explained the appearance of Renault logos on Lada Iskra parts
The Renault marking on the details of the new Lada Iskra model is explained by the fact that the project to develop the car began with the French shareholders, and some of the tooling and molds for the plant were ordered at that time. Representatives of AVTOVAZ informed Izvestia about this on July 23.
"It is economically impractical to re-order new molds just for the sake of a different logo. We confirm that in the range of parts and components used to assemble Iskra, more than 90% are Russian production and suppliers," AvtoVAZ emphasized.
When studying the new Lada Iskra model, bloggers found Renault markings on the car parts, as well as components made in Japan and China, <url> Magazine reported earlier that day. For example, the driver's airbag in Lada Iskra is of Chinese origin, while the passenger airbag is of Japanese origin.
The development of Iskra began on the CMF-B-LS platform created by Renault. Later, after the French left AVTOVAZ's capital, the architecture underwent reengineering and became technologically independent, the domestic company said.
Sales of Lada Iskra started on July 20 in Tolyatti, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Delivery to dealers in other regions is expected within a few weeks. The Iskra sedan costs from 1.25 million rubles in the basic configuration with a manual transmission. The most expensive modification of the model, the raised SW Cross station wagon in the maximum configuration with a CVT, was estimated at 1.8 million rubles.
