The new Syrian authorities have requested Turkey's assistance in strengthening its defense capabilities in the fight against terrorism, including the Islamic State group (IS, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). This was reported on July 23 by TRT Haber TV channel, citing sources in the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

"The Syrian administration has requested official assistance from Turkey in the framework of strengthening its defense capabilities and combating terrorist organizations led by ISIS. We continue our efforts to strengthen Syria's defense capability," the publication says.

According to the TV channel, recent attacks by Israel have contributed to the development of more tense relations between the Druze community and Damascus, especially in the southern region of Suwayda. Turkey continues to maintain a resolute position on protecting the territorial integrity of Syria, ensuring stability and combating terrorist organizations.

Israel launched strikes on the territory of Syria on July 14. Tel Aviv cited the need to protect Druze residents in southern Syria from attacks by the Syrian army as the reason for the attacks. On July 16, it was reported that Israelis were trying to break through the border with Syria to help their co-religionists.

On July 19, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa, with Washington's support, agreed to a cease-fire. The United States also called on Druze, Bedouin and Sunni Muslims to lay down their arms in order to build a "new unified Syrian identity."
