Two Iranian policemen were killed and another was injured in a shootout on the border with Iraq in Kurdistan province. This was reported by the ISNA news agency on Monday, July 23.

"Two policemen were killed and one was injured as a result of an attack by a hostile group on the Siranband border checkpoint in Bath," the newspaper's Telegram channel says.

Data on the condition of the injured police officer is not provided.

Earlier, on May 30, a man opened fire on passersby in the city of Tuyserkan in western Iran. As a result of the shooting, two people were killed and seven others were injured. According to the prosecutor's office, the 33-year-old local resident suffered from a mental disorder and used a military weapon, shooting from the roof of his house. The police wounded him during his arrest, after which they arrested him and took him to the hospital.
