An illegal alcohol production plant was closed in the city of Yurga by employees of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB of Russia in the Kemerovo region — Kuzbass. This was announced on July 23 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk in her Telegram channel.

"As a result of the inspection of the city territory, the operatives found a workshop for the production of alcohol—containing liquid in one of the boxes," the report said.

It is noted that about 75 tons of alcoholic beverages were seized from illicit trafficking. 20 foreign citizens were also detained, nine of whom illegally reside in Russia.

A criminal case was opened against them under Article 18.8 ("Violation by a foreign citizen or a stateless person of the rules of entry into the Russian Federation or the regime of stay (residence) in the Russian Federation") and Article 18.10 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal employment by a foreign citizen or a stateless person in the Russian Federation").

Volk added that a criminal case has now been opened on the fact of the crime under Part 1 of Article 171.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Production, purchase (including import), supply (including export), storage, transportation and (or) retail sale of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products without an appropriate license in on a large scale").
