The Russian Ministry of Education has established that students in grades 1-4 should study from 20 to 26 hours per week. This follows from a document reviewed by RIA Novosti on July 23.

Starting from the beginning of the 2025 academic year, the workload for first-graders should range from 20 to 21 hours per week. For students of the second, third and fourth grades, the workload varies from 23 to 26 hours.

According to the document, the exact number of hours is linked to the options of federal curricula.

The day before, the Ministry of Education announced that the discipline "Spiritual and Moral Culture of Russia" would appear in the school curriculum of Russian students from the 2026/2027 academic year. The purpose of the creation is the formation of traditional values and worldview, as well as education in common spiritual and moral norms.
