Russian Navy launches July Storm operational exercise

The Russian Navy has launched the July Storm operational exercise, which involves forces from the Northern, Pacific, Baltic Fleets and the Caspian Flotilla. This was announced on July 23 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"In the period from July 23 to July 27, under the general leadership of the Commander—in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, an operational exercise of the July Storm Navy is being conducted in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, the Baltic and Caspian Seas, involving the forces of the Northern, Pacific, Baltic Fleets and the Caspian Flotilla," the ministry said.

During the exercises, the readiness of the fleets to solve non-standard operational tasks, as well as the use of long-range weapons, unmanned systems and modern military equipment will be checked. In addition, the crews will practice deployment to combat areas, conducting anti-submarine operations and defending their home areas and maritime economic activities.

It is expected that the naval forces will also conduct training to repel attacks by unmanned boats (BEC), air attack vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of a simulated enemy.

"The exercises involve more than 150 warships and support vessels, 120 aircraft, 10 coastal missile systems, 950 units of military and special equipment, and over 15,000 military personnel," the Defense Ministry said.
