- Bild reported on coffee hidden from thieves due to the increase in its theft in Berlin
Many supermarkets in Berlin are removing coffee from their shelves as the number of thefts has increased. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on July 23, citing sources.
"Many Berlin supermarkets can no longer afford coffee — at least on the shelves, as theft is becoming more frequent and brazen," the publication says.
According to the publication, the increase in coffee thefts occurred due to a sharp jump in its value — by 12.2% compared to last year. Supermarkets are now trying to outrun shoplifters in a variety of ways, including selling a drink in the liquor department at the checkout.
Earlier, on June 2, it was reported that a wax statue of French President Emmanuel Macron was stolen from the Greven Museum. According to the newspaper, the criminals, disguised as employees, entered the museum and took the statue out the back door.
