Representatives of the Republican Party of the United States proposed to rename the Opera House of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in honor of the wife of the American leader Donald Trump Melania. This was announced on Tuesday, July 22, according to NBC.

"On Tuesday, Republicans proposed naming the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Opera House in honor of First Lady Melania Trump," the publication says.

It is noted that the corresponding proposal was made by a member of the House of Representatives, Maiko Simpson, a Republican from Idaho.

The bill was passed by the House Appropriations Committee by 33 votes to 25 and voted on by 33 votes to 28.

"First Lady Melania Trump is the honorary chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kennedy Center. Naming a theater after her is a great way to celebrate her love of art," Simpson said.

At the same time, Lexi Hamel, a representative of the Republican Party in Idaho, later stated that Trump had not made such a request to congressmen.

On July 21, American Congressman Don Bacon shared that Trump could change his rhetoric regarding the conflict in Ukraine because of his wife Melania.
