An operational headquarters for the coordination of work was established by the Ministry of Transport at the Gorodetsky hydroelectric complex on the Volga in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was announced on July 22 by the press service of the department in its Telegram channel.

"The exact timing of the resumption of navigation along the Volga in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be determined after carrying out a complex of research work. <...> On the morning of July 22, the head of the chamber of locks 15-16 collapsed during the construction of additional chamber No. 15A. Shipping has been temporarily suspended," the message says.

According to the Ministry of Transport, all the necessary equipment is in place, including 17 dump trucks, a tugboat, a crane and excavators with a hydraulic hammer.

Earlier, on March 25, 2024, it was predicted that water from the Volga hydroelectric power station would abruptly flow to the Astrakhan region. This was due to the fact that Rosvodresursy made changes to the operating mode of the Volgograd hydroelectric complex, where the average discharge costs will range from 7-7.2 thousand cubic meters/day, which is a significant increase compared to previous indicators.
