JP learned about Trump's decision to refuse to persuade Iran to the nuclear deal
During private conversations, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to abandon attempts to convince Iran to return to negotiations on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. This was reported on July 22 by The Jerusalem Post (JP) newspaper, citing two sources.
"If they (representatives of Iran. — Ed.) if they want to come, welcome. But we're not going to convince or beg them to do it," the newspaper's interlocutors quoted Trump as saying.
It is noted that the statement was made in the context of long-term attempts by the US leader to convince Iran to return to negotiations. At the same time, the American side insists that during the discussion, the Islamic Republic should come to a decision on a complete ban on uranium enrichment.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, said in an interview with Fox News on July 21 that the uranium enrichment process in Iran had been suspended after the US strikes on the country's nuclear infrastructure. At the same time, Tehran does not intend to abandon this.
On June 24, CNN reported that the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities did not cause significant damage to the main components of Iran's nuclear program and only suspended work on it for several months, contrary to the statements of the American government.
