A criminal case has been opened in Nakhodka (Primorsky Krai) over the death of a 10-year-old boy while swimming on the Volna beach. The regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia reports this in its Telegram channel.
The tragedy occurred the day before, on July 21, on the Volna beach in the area of the Embankment Street. According to the prosecutor's office of the region, a local resident brought three children to the coastal strip, which was not equipped for swimming.
"The investigation revealed that two more children were swimming on the beach with the deceased. All of them began to be swept away by the wave, two were saved," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The body of a 10-year-old boy was discovered during a search and rescue operation. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing death by negligence."
According to the PrimaMedia news agency, this is the ninth criminal case on the deaths of children on the water, initiated in Primorye since the beginning of summer.
