- The expert shared tips on protecting household appliances from overheating in the summer
In summer, refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines are at increased risk of breakdowns due to high temperatures and increased load. Alexander Galkin, Product Director of the Hyundai brand of household appliances and electronics, told Izvestia on July 23 about how to protect household appliances from overload and other non-obvious dangers.
"There are more products in refrigerators and they are opened and closed more often, washing machines run several washes a day due to frequent linen changes, and air conditioners do not have time to "rest" between switching modes. Modern technology is able to withstand all this, but everything requires a measure and knowledge of some simple rules," he said.
According to the expert, to prevent overloading, it is important to ensure good air circulation around the refrigerator by moving it 8-10 cm away from the wall.
The climatic class of the equipment should also be taken into account: the SN class is suitable for the middle zone (up to +32 degrees), for the southern regions — ST (up to +38 degrees), and for the hottest zones — T (up to +43 degrees). These parameters can be found on the back wall or in the documentation for the device.
As for washing machines, Galkin added, wet laundry after the beach weighs more, so it is recommended to load 1 kg less than the norm and wash in several cycles, especially for front models. Overcrowded machinery can cause parts to wear out quickly.
In addition, the expert recommended carefully shaking out clothes before washing, and if the sand sticks, pre-soak them.
He said that air conditioners also need to be learned how to use them properly. Frequent interruptions in operation can lead to rapid compressor failure. It is optimal to turn on the device for at least 40 minutes and set a comfortable temperature.
"And the most critical thing in the heat is dirty filters. The cleanliness of these parts must be monitored especially closely, as there is much more dust in summer. All this accumulated dirt creates obstacles to the full operation of the device — the nodes work with additional load, individual parts heat up above the norm," Galkin concluded.
Olga Ulankina, an expert at the Hemotest laboratory, told Izvestia on July 8 what could be dangerous about air conditioners and how to use them correctly to enjoy comfort without harm to well-being. According to her, bacteria and mold fungi can multiply in household appliances that are not properly maintained, which can cause an allergic reaction, asthma and other problems with the respiratory system.
