The psychotherapist named ways to properly organize the child's leisure time.

One of the common problems when planning children's leisure activities is overestimating the child's capabilities. When parents offer age—inappropriate tasks, such as complex puzzles or books for older children, this can cause the child to feel insecure and unwilling to engage in such activities in the future. Irina Krashkina, a psychotherapist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician's clinic), PhD, told Izvestia about this on July 23.

"It is important to choose activities that correspond to the current level of development of the child. An equally significant mistake is the lack of choice. If parents insist on a specific type of activity, without taking into account the preferences of the child, this can lead to a loss of interest in creativity in general," Krashkina warned.

The expert recommends offering several classes — drawing, modeling, dancing — and allowing the child to choose independently.

The government plans to allocate social certificates so that children can attend clubs and sections for free.

Krashkina drew attention to the importance of structured time. A complete lack of routine can cause children to feel confused and lead to aimless pastime. The optimal solution would be a balance between organized activities in the morning and free games in the afternoon.

Coercion to certain types of activity is particularly dangerous. Pressure from parents, even with good intentions, often causes protest and a complete rejection of classes. Instead of the phrase "You should", the specialist advises to be interested in the preferences of the child and give the opportunity to try different types of activities.

"Following these recommendations, parents can create a healthier and more productive environment for their child at home, which will allow him to develop, stay motivated and feel comfortable. Understanding your child's capabilities, giving them freedom of choice, and creating a structure are all important for successful leisure activities," the psychotherapist emphasized.
