The doctor gave advice on maintaining brain health
In order to keep your brain healthy, you need to train it and avoid stress. Anna Bogolepova, MD, Professor, Head of the Center for Cognitive and Psychoemotional Health of the FMBA of Russia, told about this on July 22 at the Izvestia News Center during the press conference "Advanced domestic developments for the treatment of brain diseases", dedicated to World Brain Day.
She explained that in order to keep the brain functioning, first of all, a healthy lifestyle is needed, including normalization of the psycho-emotional state, good sleep, physical activity, and cognitive training.
"It is also necessary to control vascular risk factors — treatment of arterial hypertension, correction of the blood lipid spectrum, monitoring and correction in case of blood glucose disorders," she added.
Vsevolod Belousov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, General Director of the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, noted the importance of the ability to get oneself out of a stressful state. According to him, if a person does not know how to relax and get himself out of a state of tension, then the brain will be harmed.
"Ideally, this is an alternation of work with the opposite activity," Belousov added.
In addition, the expert noted that nutrition is an underestimated factor. He drew attention to the fact that many problems of the nervous system are associated with malnutrition. For example, foods rich in light sugars — bread, sweets — keep our nervous system on edge.
On June 16, Suna Isakova, an oncologist at the Sberbank Health medical company, told Izvestia about the non-obvious symptoms of a brain tumor. According to her, brain tumors are detected annually in 25 people out of 100 thousand. About a third of cases turn out to be malignant.
