On July 20, Russian golfers defeated the world team at the international tournament "Strong Figures", which was held in the Moscow region. More than 50 professionals and amateurs from 14 countries took part in the competition.

The match was held in the format of team and individual competitions. According to the organizer, Evgeny Kovtun, each pair of players brought their team points: a win was one, a draw was one, and a defeat was zero. This year, the Russians once again confirmed their leadership and beat the world team with a big score of 13:6.

As Leonid Klimenchuk, a correspondent for Izvestia, said, the atmosphere on the field was tense but friendly. Many golfers have shared their personal rituals.

"For example, I sometimes touch the grass before the first TEE and ask, relatively speaking, the field to be kind to me today. I'll do the same thing today," admitted Vera Markevich, a participant in the tournament.

Richard Coffey said that the case for one of his clubs is made in the form of a lion — the mascot reminds him of his daughter and helps him stay calm.

Among the guests of the tournament was Tandive Mgkswati, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of South Africa, who played for the world team. She noted that for her it is not only a sport, but also an opportunity to meet friends from different countries and enjoy the game.

For beginners, the organizers held a master class with Olympic champion Vera Shimanskaya, who showed how to properly roll the ball into the hole and deliver accurate shots.

Despite the intense struggle, the participants agreed that the most important thing in golf is not only the result, but also the opportunity to meet and spend a day outdoors with like—minded people.
