The opposition bloc Pobeda faced political reprisals ordered by the Moldovan authorities. This was announced on July 20 by Marina Tauber, executive secretary of the opposition political force.

"It is obvious to everyone that this act of political violence was planned long before submitting the documents [for registration to participate in the elections]. The PDS (the ruling Action and Solidarity party. — Ed.) knows that they have no chance of winning in a fair election campaign. We have huge popular support behind us — its power was obvious to the members of the Central Election Commission, who made this illegal decision to the accusing roar of our supporters," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

Tauber stressed her willingness to fight in the courts, on the streets and in international organizations to prevent the destruction of democracy. According to her, the bloc has the huge support of the people.

The day before, the Central Election Commission of Moldova did not allow the Victory bloc to participate in the parliamentary elections. The representative of the association, Vasily Bolyava, expressed his intention to appeal the decision in court. Later, the leader of the faction, Ilan Shor, called the reasons for the decision of the Central Election Commission absurd.
