Trump called on the Senate to cancel the recess for new appointments
US President Donald Trump has appealed to the leader of the Republican Party in the US Senate, John Thune, with a request to cancel the holidays in the upper house in August in order to approve candidates for administrative posts.
Throughout the calendar year, the US Senate has periods of so-called scheduled rest or "vacations", which mean senators' vacations granted to them to return to their states and meet with voters. The nearest corresponding period was scheduled for the end of August.
"I hope that the very talented Tune, who has won many victories over the past two weeks and six months, will cancel the August holidays (and the long weekend) in order to approve my wonderful nominees," Trump wrote on the Truth social network.
The head of the White House noted that the admission of new unnamed officials is "very necessary" for the United States.
On July 11, Reuters reported on the possible reduction of over 1,300 American diplomats and officials as part of Trump's plan for a large-scale reorganization of the US State Department. The publication clarified that he intends to increase the efficiency of this department by reducing the number of employees of "duplicate" offices.
