- The Central Election Commission of Moldova did not allow the opposition bloc "Victory" to participate in the elections
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Moldova has not allowed the opposition bloc Pobeda to participate in the parliamentary elections. This was reported by Sputnik Moldova on July 19.
"The Central Election Commission has not registered the Pobeda opposition bloc to participate in the parliamentary elections," the agency's Telegram channel says.
The decision was made by a majority vote during the meeting. The reason for the refusal was violations in the document flow, as well as non-compliance with the requirements of the electoral legislation.
In addition, law enforcement officers escorted Alexey Lunga, the leader of the Chance party, out of the meeting room after a verbal altercation with the leadership of the Central Election Commission. According to Sputnik Moldavia, the reason for the conflict was the content of one of the parts of the decree mentioning Transnistria, Stalinist repressions and reasonable suspicions.
In an interview with Izvestia, Lunga stressed that his party would in any case participate in the political life of Moldova, and also expressed the opinion that there were still instances in the republic to which one could apply against the background of the refusal to register for elections.
"They're laughing at us for nothing. No one has annulled the criminal Code yet. And for the murder of our country's democracy, they will be held accountable very, very strictly according to the law," he added.
The press service of the Pobeda bloc announced plans to apply for registration for the elections on July 13. It was clarified that the faction intends to seek the restoration of ties with the Russian Federation and the development of cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as this "meets the interests of Moldova and reflects the choice of the majority of citizens."
Prior to that, on July 10, the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, agreed to head the list of "Victory" in the elections in Moldova. She noted that she had been through a lot in the last two years and none of the Moldovan politicians had "experienced this in 30 years."
