Two children doused a kitten with acetone and set it on fire in the entrance of a multi-storey building in Makhachkala. This was reported on Saturday, July 19, in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan.

According to the agency, children aged 12 and 13 dragged a stray kitten into the entrance, beat and bullied it, then doused it with acetone and set it on fire. The incident was reported to the police by neighbors who heard the screeching of the animal and smelled the burning.

The teenagers fled the scene, but were detained and taken to the police station, accompanied by the aunt of one of them. The woman explained that the children were temporarily staying with her. The Interior Ministry noted that this is not the first case of their cruelty to animals.

"The collected materials will be transferred under investigation for making procedural decisions on bringing the perpetrators and their legal representatives to justice," said Irina Volk, an official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, in her Telegram channel.

On July 15, it was reported that a man intoxicated in Zelenograd threw chinchillas from the third floor, who bit him while feeding. It is specified that the suspect fully admitted his guilt. A criminal case on animal cruelty has been sent to court.
