On July 19, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin called for increased responsibility for the imposition of additional paid goods and services.

"This week, a bill was passed in the first reading increasing fines against those who impose additional paid goods, services and jobs on people," Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel.

He noted that penalties for officials will amount to 300 thousand rubles, and for legal entities — up to 1 million rubles. According to the parliamentarian, these measures are aimed at protecting citizens from imposed purchases.

"People are forced to make unprofitable purchases, as a rule, through manipulation, threats of negative consequences, and human impact," Volodin added.

On April 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law banning the imposition of additional goods and automatic consent for services. According to the law, the seller does not have the right to provide paid additional services without the consumer's knowledge. If they were provided without the client's consent, the client may refuse to pay and demand a refund.
