During menopause, estrogen levels decrease, which increases the risk of developing osteoporosis, a disease in which bones become more brittle, so it is important to include certain foods in the diet. Tatiana Berezhkova, a leading obstetrician-gynecologist at the Women's Doctor Reproductive Health Clinic, told about this on July 19.

"Calcium is essential for strong bones. It forms the basis of the skeleton and ensures its strength. During the period of declining reproductive function, the need for calcium increases, as the body loses it faster. To replenish calcium, it is important to include dairy products in the diet," she said.

The list of foods rich in this trace element, according to the doctor, primarily includes milk, low-fat cheese, sour cream, kefir and cottage cheese. It is also found in green vegetables, particularly broccoli and peas, as well as lentils, chickpeas, almonds, sesame seeds and dried apricots.

In addition, Berezhkova noted that during menopause it is recommended to eat fish, which is rich not only in calcium, but also in vitamin D, which promotes the absorption of the mineral and normal metabolism in the body. She stressed that this vitamin is also found in eggs, and also recalled that at the time of this restructuring of the body, foods rich in magnesium, phosphorus and B vitamins should be present in the diet.

"At the same time, it is important to reduce the consumption of those foods that can negatively affect bone health and the general condition of the body. These include fatty meat dishes, sausages, mayonnaise, sweets and fried dishes that can cause weight gain and worsen metabolism," the doctor advised in an interview with the newspaper.Ru».

According to her, it is important to avoid excessive salt intake, and also try to minimize or completely eliminate the use of alcoholic beverages, as they have a negative effect on bone tissue. Summing up her story, Berezhkova recalled that maintaining a normal weight in order to reduce stress on joints and leading an active lifestyle have a beneficial effect on bone formation.

Margarita Bogdanova, a gynecologist at the OMNIUS clinic, told Izvestia on June 26 that the first signs of menopause usually occur between the ages of 55 and 55, which include changes in the menstrual cycle, mood, sleep, and even ability to work. At the same time, as the specialist clarified, the level of female sex hormones decreases, which leads to tarnishing and sagging of the skin, as well as the appearance of wrinkles.
