American poet and film songwriter Alan Bergman has died at the age of 99. His daughter Julie Bergman Sender told The Hollywood Reporter about this on July 18.

"Alan Bergman, the lyricist who, together with his late wife Marilyn Bergman, created one of the most famous duets in the history of film music, has died. He was 99 years old," the article says.

According to his daughter, the poet died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles.

Bergman was born in Brooklyn. His career began as a director of children's shows, and later he began writing music.

Alan and Marilyn Bergman were nominated for an Oscar every year, winning the award three times for songs for the films "Meeting of Two Hearts", "The Thomas Crown Affair", as well as for the melodrama "Yentl". In total, the couple were nominated 16 times and were later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
