With the opening of Gelendzhik Airport, business, cultural and gastronomic tourism will receive a new impetus. This was announced on Friday, July 18, by the head of the resort city Alexey Bogodistov.

According to him, 147 passengers arrived in the city on the first flight. The airport is ready to receive about 900 people per day, and up to 1 million per year. In the coming days, it is planned to increase the number of flights and attract new air carriers.

"I agree with the guests of the resort, who appreciated the new airport complex as a work of art and a modern miracle of the Russian South," the mayor said in his Telegram channel.

Earlier that day, it was reported that the new Gelendzhik Airport had accepted the first flight from Moscow. The flight was performed on an aircraft in the Gzhel livery. The aircraft received this coloring in 2018, it was timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of Aeroflot. The opening of the airport in Gelendzhik caused a stir among tourists, tickets for the first and next flights were sold out after the start of sales.
