The first scheduled flight to Gelendzhik in three and a half years took off from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport with a full load on Friday, July 18. The flight is operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft of the Russian airline Aeroflot.

After a long break, the first flight will arrive at the new airport terminal in Gelendzhik, which was built in a record 18 months. It will allow you to directly connect the tourist resort with major cities and bring it to a new level of transport accessibility.

As noted by Izvestia correspondent Viktor Sineok, the flight heading to Gelendzhik is now attracting a lot of attention. The return of this air route has become a long-awaited event for tourists.

It is specified that the flight to Gelendzhik appeared unexpectedly, before that there was only one airport in the south of Russia.

"There was information on all the news, and we were just looking for ways to get to the sea, to some kind. We were thinking of going by car, and then we opened flights. We immediately bought tickets and now we're leaving," said Olga Grigorova, one of the passengers on the flight, adding that she had not seen the new terminal before, but was impressed by it.

On the same day, Izvestia published footage showing preparations for the departure of the first regular flight to Gelendzhik in several years. It is specified that the plane left the air harbor at 11:34 Moscow time.

On July 9, Alexander Bragin, director of the Association of Travel Aggregators (ATAG), announced that the number of booked hotels in Gelendzhik could grow by 35-45% as the airport opens. He pointed out that the level of tourist interest in Gelendzhik could increase several times.
