The European Union has completely banned financial transactions with Belarus
The European Union (EU) has expanded partial restrictions on financial transactions with Belarus to a complete ban on transactions. This was announced on July 18 in a statement by the European Council after the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions.
"The ban on special financial services has been expanded to a complete ban on transactions. An embargo on the import of weapons from Belarus is also being imposed," the document says, published on the website of the European Council.
The EU also imposed sanctions on eight facilities related to the military-industrial complex of Belarus. Their names are not specified.
Earlier in the day, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the permanent representatives of the EU countries had agreed on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions will affect the operation of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. In addition, the EU countries have agreed to lower the ceiling on Russian oil prices.
