On July 18, American leader Donald Trump announced that he would sue The Wall Street Journal newspaper over the publication of an article with information about an erotic gift made by the US president to American financier Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday.

"The Wall Street Journal and personally [newspaper owner] Rupert Murdoch were directly warned by President Donald Trump that the letter they allegedly published from President Trump to Epstein was a fake, and if they published it, they would be sued," Trump said in a statement on Truth Social.

In addition, Trump called the WSJ a "disgusting and dirty newspaper" that tries to stay "relevant" by publishing false information. He added that the publication's editor-in—chief, Emma Tucker, was personally informed by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt and Trump himself that the letter was a fake, but she "didn't want to hear it."

The American leader also instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to disclose the transcripts of the testimony in the Epstein case to a grand jury. He clarified that this was due to "ridiculous publicity."

The Wall Street Journal reported on July 17 that Trump presented Epstein with a letter with a drawing of a naked woman for his 50th birthday. It is clarified that the letter contains birthday greetings and wishes that Epstein's every day would be filled with wonderful secrets.
