The harvest of tomatoes and cucumbers began near Chita

The vegetable harvest started on the territory of the agricultural enterprise Chernovskoye in the Chita district. This was reported on Thursday, July 17, on the official portal of the Trans-Baikal Territory.

According to the head of the agricultural enterprise, Vladimir Loskutikov, tomatoes began to be harvested this week. 200-300 kg of product is delivered from greenhouses every day.

"We expect that from the third decade of July we will increase the gross harvest and will harvest 1-2 tons of this crop per day. We will start harvesting eggplants at about the same time," he added.

The company also continues to harvest cucumbers — about 8-9 tons daily, writes ChitaMedia news agency. The products arrive on the shelves of Chita retail chains, as well as in the municipalities of the region and neighboring Buryatia.

Earlier in July, Izvestia wrote that since the beginning of 2025, carrots and beets have risen in price to a record in Russia. Industry representatives attribute the problem to the position of retail chains: Instead of products from local producers, they focus on imports, and as a result, Russian farms are reducing production.
