On July 16, the Chinese tour of the Russian production of the Broadway musical "First Date" will begin. The premiere will take place at Harbin Harbin Grand Theatre, and then the musical will move to Beijing.

The musical with songs by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (Disney projects) and a play by Austin Winsberg (TV series "Gossip Girl") has already won acclaim from audiences in New York, London, Tokyo, Buenos Aires and Moscow. Now, thanks to the cooperation of Broadway Moscow with China Poly Group Corporation, the Russian production will be seen by the Chinese public.

The plot centers on love in the big city, the story of two lonely hearts: he is a financial analyst from Wall Street, she is a freedom—loving creative person. Their paths would hardly have crossed if it hadn't been for a blind date set up by their loved ones.

Dmitry Bogachev, the producer of the Russian production of the musical "The First Date", is known in Russia, Europe and America for his numerous theater projects, including the musicals "The Phantom of the Opera", "Chess", the Disney "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Little Mermaid", Mamma Mia!, Chicago, the original Russian musicals "Don't be Afraid of Anything, I with You" and "The Last Fairy Tale", as well as the Broadway musical Anastasia, which is being staged all over the world today.

Before the Chinese tour, a new version of the musical "First Date" was created. The production has become more spectacular and modern – the dialogues have been redesigned, topical jokes have been added, new scenic solutions have been invented, and multimedia set design has been developed. The musical will be played in Russian with Chinese subtitles.

"This is an unusual case when a Broadway play goes on tour not in English and not in the original production. Our Chinese partners from China Poly Group Corporation saw the Broadway version, but chose the Russian version as more creative and driving. To organize the tour, we have concluded a separate agreement with the American copyright holders of The First Date for the right to present in China a Russian production of the Broadway musical in Russian with Chinese subtitles," said Bogachev.

Leading artists of Moscow musicals Yulia Dovganishina ("Don't be Afraid of Anything, I'm with you", "The Last Fairy Tale"), Andrey Birin (Mamma Mia!, "Beauty and the Beast", "Don't be afraid of Anything, I'm with you"), Elizaveta Pashchenko ("Dudes", "Shop of Horrors") went to China."), Evgeny Pilyugin ("The Show Went Wrong"), Elvina Mukhutdinova ("Nord-Ost", Mamma Mia!), Ekaterina Lisochenko ("Beauty and the Beast", "Singing in the Rain"), Alexey Petrov ("Anna Karenina", "The Man Who Laughs"), Pavel Stukalov ("The Little Mermaid", "The Man who Laughs"), Vladislav Goetze ("Romeo and Juliet"), as well as director of photography Anna Shevchuk ("The Last Tale", "Valentine's Day", "Mamma By! or the Musical went wrong") and a musical band led by conductor Sofia Potylitsina.
