The administration of US President Donald Trump is delaying the conclusion of a deal on the supply of high-tech Nvidia chips with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the risks of these products entering China. This was reported on July 17 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.

"Some administration officials fear that China may gain access to Nvidia's advanced chips, and are delaying efforts to reach an agreement," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the deal is possible only if the UAE agrees with the new US requirements that would meet the interests of national security.

It is clarified that Washington is calling for the exclusion of the Abu Dhabi-based G42 company, which develops artificial intelligence (AI), from the list of direct recipients of chips. During the agreement, she was assigned 20% of the semiconductors.

According to the newspaper, the US Department of Commerce does not plan to approve the supply of chips to this company yet, but it is possible that this will change in the future, and the deal will still be concluded. A similar position is held in the UAE.
