Almost 1,180 hectares of wild cannabis were found in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on private agricultural plots. This is reported by the press service of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor administration.

The fields captured by the plant were discovered during a land survey during the interdepartmental operational and preventive operation "Poppy", which took place in the first half of summer.

Most of all, 602 hectares of cannabis were found in Sharypovsky district. In the Nazarovsky district, 232 hectares were overgrown with narcotic grass, in Achinsk — 183 hectares, in Bogotolsky — 100 hectares. In the eastern group of districts of the region — Kansk, Dzerzhinsky and Rybinsk — 61.9 hectares were found in unused fields.

Warnings were issued to the owners of the fields about the inadmissibility of violating the requirements of land legislation. All information about the overgrowth of agricultural land with wild cannabis was sent to the police and municipal authorities.

By the end of the first stage of the operation, five drug-containing plant foci were destroyed on a total area of 885.6 hectares, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency. Work on the identification and elimination of cannabis will last until the end of autumn.

Cannabis is a weed plant that invades farmland. In case of prolonged disuse and overgrowth of fields with weeds under favorable conditions, cannabis can prevail in the phytocenosis and form large foci.
