Germany urged to establish contact with Russia

Germany should do everything possible to establish contact with Russia and President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on July 15 by the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany party, Tino Fragalla.

"First of all, the German side must finally do everything possible to establish contact with Vladimir Putin, with Russia. This is also my request to [German Chancellor] Friedrich Merz," he said on the NTV channel.

He stressed that Merz has held the position of chancellor since May 6, but since then he has never had contact with the Russian president. Abdullah called it absolutely necessary to enter into further negotiations and diplomacy in the context of the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, he clarified that the supply of more weapons to Kiev is not a solution, since it will not lead to the end of the conflict.

In addition, Abdullah expressed concern about talks about plans to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, which are planned to be used for strikes on Russian territories. He called it the wrong approach to ensuring peace.

"First of all, Germany is dragging itself further and further into this <conflict>, and this must be prevented," he added.

The German Chancellor plans to return the introduction of universal military service, although it is not provided for by the coalition agreement.

Yesterday, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Germany plans to purchase two Patriot air defense missile systems from the United States for Ukraine. He also stressed that he had managed to "quickly and quietly" reach agreements with the head of the US Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to resolve any lingering issues regarding the deal.
