Stoloto and F6 blocked almost 5,000 fraudulent resources in six months
In January-June, Stoloto and F6, a developer of cybercrime technologies, blocked almost 5,000 fraudulent resources. This was reported in the press service of the distributor of the All-Russian state lottery.
Of these, 4.7 thousand were on websites that operated under the guise of state lotteries. Experts also found more than 100 fake posts, accounts and groups on social networks, 25 fraudulent messages in instant messengers and 38 malicious mobile applications.
According to F6 analysts, the volume of discovered resources has been steadily decreasing in recent years. So, according to the results of the first six months of 2022, about 19 thousand resources were blocked, in the first half of 2023 - 7 thousand, in 2024 — 3.5 thousand.
"For Stoloto, the fight against online fraud under the guise of state lotteries and the data security of participants in state lotteries are at the forefront. Thanks to Stoloto's collaboration with law enforcement agencies and cybersecurity experts, it was possible to significantly reduce fraudulent activity in the lottery segment and effectively block emerging threats," said Ekaterina Tuton, Deputy CEO of the multidisciplinary holding company S8 Capital, which includes Stoloto.
Stanislav Goncharov, head of the Digital Risk Protection department at F6, stressed that phishing and scamming remain at the top of the main cyber threats for brands. "Another trend has been noticed: the number of fraudulent sites is rapidly decreasing if a company is actively fighting digital crime using modern technologies," he added.
Since 2014, all lotteries in Russia have been state—owned, organized by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, and they are conducted under the state supervision of the Federal Tax Service of Russia. State lotteries distributed by Stoloto are a significant source of replenishment of budgets at various levels of the Russian Federation in order to finance socially significant facilities and events.
