Ecuador extradites Russian accused of embezzlement of 6 million rubles

Ecuador is extraditing a Russian man accused of embezzling 6 million rubles from the Pension and Social Insurance Fund. This was announced on July 14 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Ecuador are extraditing Anatoly Shusharin for criminal prosecution," the agency said in a statement.

It is clarified that the accused stole funds by receiving compensation from the fund for people with disabilities. Shusharin escaped from law enforcement in April 2024 and was put on the international wanted list. After his extradition, he will be prosecuted under Parts 2, 3, 4 of Articles 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud in receiving payments").
