Fishing increased by 44% in the Black and Azov Seas
In the first 6 months of 2025, fishermen extracted 24.7 thousand tons of biological resources in the Black and Azov Seas. This is 44.3% more than in the same period of 2024, when fishermen caught 17.4 thousand tons. These are the data from the Federal Fisheries Agency.
The ministry noted that from January to June, it was possible to extract 12.6 thousand tons of hamsa. A year earlier, 9.2 thousand tons of this fish were detected during the same period, writes KrasnodarMedia news agency with reference to the Business Newspaper. The South."
4.4 thousand tons of sprat were also extracted. For the same period last year, this figure was about 923 tons. 577 tons of mutton were caught, and for the same period last year — about 231 tons. The catch of horse mackerel this year amounted to 226 tons (last year — about 164 tons).
The agency notes that small-field fish species are mainly mined in the Azov and Black Seas: tulka, sprat and hamsa. In recent years, the fishery for barabula, kalkan flounder, pilengas, horse mackerel, rapan and Black Sea shrimp has grown.
Most of the catch goes to the domestic Russian market.
In February, it was reported that the results of 1.6 thousand studies of fish and fish products from the Black Sea showed that there were no violations of hygiene standards. Rospotrebnadzor is still conducting enhanced monitoring of environmental quality in the fuel oil spill area in the Black Sea water area.
