Golikova pointed out the desire of Russians to have many children.
Russian citizens want to have children and are oriented towards having many children. This was announced on Monday, July 14, by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at a meeting on social issues with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"We <...> summed up the results of the year of the family at a meeting of the State Council at the end of the year. And in general, there have been quite serious and positive changes in the orientation of our citizens towards having children and having many children," Golikova said.
She added that, in furtherance of the President's instructions and within the framework of the national goal to preserve the population, promote health, improve well-being and support the family, Russia has adopted a new action strategy for the implementation of family and demographic policy. According to Golikova, a work plan for the implementation of this strategy is currently being prepared, taking into account feedback from the regions and the expert community.
She also stated that starting from September 1, 2025, women who study full-time will receive maternity benefits. According to her, now payments will depend not on the scholarship, but on the living wage, which is set in the region of residence.
"Thus, we are moving away from these 2-5 thousand, and now the maternity allowance will amount to about 90 thousand rubles," Golikova concluded.
Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, added that today the number of large families in Russia is 2.8 million.
