UFC fighter Walker intends to obtain Russian citizenship

Brazilian UFC mixed martial artist Walter Walker has announced his intention to obtain Russian citizenship after going into battle to the Russian song "Mother Earth". This was announced on July 14 by representatives of the athlete's team.

"Walter has a residence permit. He plans [to obtain Russian citizenship], the process will be progressive," TASS quoted a statement from a representative of the fighter's team.

On July 12, the athlete gave an interview in Russian and confessed his love for Russia after winning the UFC tournament in the USA. During the confrontation with American Kennedy Nzechukwu, the Brazilian won in the first round. Before the start of the fight, he entered the ring to the song "Mother Earth".

The day before, Walker said in an interview with Izvestia that his daughter sings the Russian song "Mother" by Tatiana Kurtukova every day. The fighter said that he considers the Russian hit to be "good music" that gives him motivation.
