- The FSIN explained the ban on the transfer of ex-Colonel Zakharchenko as a threat to his life.
The ban on the transfer of Dmitry Zakharchenko, a former colonel of the Russian Interior Ministry, to one of the colonies proposed by his relatives is connected with the threat to his life. This is stated in the court materials.
According to the report, there are a dozen prisoners in the colony proposed for transfer who know about Zakharchenko's identity.
"A number of convicts maintained friendly relations with people who suffered from the violence of the convicted Zakharchenko and were negatively disposed towards him, including the use of violence," RIA Novosti quoted court materials on July 14.
It is also specified that the convicts may harm Zakharchenko's health. Transfer to such a colony poses a "real threat" to him. In addition, this decision may harm the lives of prisoners and contribute to the commission of crimes.
Earlier, on November 30, 2023, it was reported that Zakharchenko was serving a 16-year sentence in a high-security penal colony following two court verdicts for bribes of 1.4 billion rubles. According to the investigation, from 2007 to 2016, the former colonel of the Russian Interior Ministry systematically received bribes from an organized group. He was charged with receiving them and abuse of office.
