A woman from China, Huang, sold two children for $11.6 thousand to pay tips to streamers and buy expensive clothes. This was reported on July 13 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) agency.

As the agency noted, the 26-year-old woman herself was an adopted child and had completed only primary education. Having given birth to her first child and not having the financial means to raise him, she decided to sell him.

"The Li family bought the boy for 45,000 yuan ($6.3 thousand). Huang spent the entire amount on tips for live broadcast hosts," SCMP reported.

After spending the money received, the woman, according to the agency, decided to conceive a second child in order to make a profit of 38 thousand yuan ($ 5.3 thousand), but the child was resold for 103 thousand yuan ($ 14 thousand). The woman spent the money for well—known purposes - paying tips to streamers and buying expensive clothes.

In 2022, the children were rescued by police officers and placed under the care of local civil affairs departments pending adoption.

Huang was sentenced to five years and two months in prison and fined 30,000 yuan ($4,000) for fraud and human trafficking. The verdict was handed down on July 8 this year.

Earlier, on March 22, a court in the United States sentenced a married couple from West Virginia to hundreds of years in prison for enslaving adopted black children. It is specified that at least two of the minors lived in a barn, where there is no water supply and toilet. In addition, the children said that they slept on the concrete floor and did not receive proper nutrition.
