In France, a 20-year-old prisoner escaped from Corbas prison in a bag of clothes on July 11. This was reported on July 13 by BFMTV, citing a statement from the prison administration.

According to the TV channel, in Lyon-Corbas prison, the prisoner lived in the same cell with two other men. One of them, after serving his sentence, was released on July 12, and it was at that moment that the prisoner hid in a large bag with clothes of a cellmate and escaped, taking advantage of the opportunity.

"At the moment, there is no evidence that there was internal complicity," prison administration director Sebastien Kovel told BFMTV.

It was clarified that the escapee is a French citizen and he was imprisoned for various charges of minor acts, as well as crimes related to human trafficking or theft.

The local police, together with the Internal Security Forces (SVB), are currently searching for the fugitive.

Earlier, on May 17, 10 prisoners were reported to have escaped from a prison in New Orleans, USA. On the same day, one of them, Kendall Miles, was caught in the French Quarter, a popular tourist destination. It was clarified that he was found hiding under a car in the hotel garage. Four of them were later captured.
