- Lavrov pointed to the implementation of the strategic partnership agreement between Russia and the DPRK
Moscow and Pyongyang are fulfilling their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement and plan to continue to adhere to this line in the future. This was announced on July 12 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a reception hosted by the DPRK government in honor of his visit to the republic.
"The obligations stipulated in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Partnership Agreement are faithfully fulfilled by both Russia and the DPRK. This will continue to be the case," the minister said.
He pointed out that the two countries are fighting together to ensure that Eurasia does not become a "patrimony" of NATO, which is trying to spread its influence over the entire continent. Lavrov stressed that representatives of Russia and their Korean friends are now advocating that "evil recede" and are taking practical actions to do so. The Russian Foreign Minister noted that Moscow and Pyongyang make a great contribution to ensuring the implementation of international laws and the principle of equality of states.
On the same day, at a press conference following talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Wonsan, Lavrov said that Russia and North Korea have almost identical approaches in foreign policy. In addition, the two countries are active on international platforms, for example, at the UN. The minister added that the Strategic Partnership Agreement reflects the allied relations between Moscow and Pyongyang.
