Macron announced his readiness to send up to 50,000 soldiers to Ukraine
France and the United Kingdom will begin expanding the combined contingent of military personnel to 50,000, which could potentially be deployed in Ukraine after the conflict is resolved. This was reported on July 10 by Le Monde, citing a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron.
"We are increasing the number of these combined forces from the brigade level to the army corps level, meaning they will be able to number up to 50,000 troops capable of being involved in a major clash," he said.
Macron clarified that soldiers from other European countries can also join the contingent. Such forces may be transferred to the control of the NATO military bloc.
Earlier in the day, British Defense Minister John Healey did not rule out sending troops to Ukraine. According to him, London is ready to do this in order to help establish a cease-fire between Moscow and Kiev.
