Tokayev, in response to Trump's increase in duties, called for a compromise.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a reply letter to US President Donald Trump in connection with the US announcement of the introduction of 25% duties. This was announced on July 10 on the website of the President of the Republic.
It is noted that Tokayev confirmed the country's readiness for a constructive dialogue to work out a rational solution and expressed confidence in reaching a compromise on this issue.
"Kazakhstan, as a long—standing trade and investment partner of the United States of America, is committed to developing fair, predictable, mutually beneficial trade relations," the head of state said.
On July 7, Trump said in a letter to Tokayev that the United States would impose duties of 25% on all goods from Kazakhstan starting from August 1. The next day, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan announced that it would respond to the duties of the President of the United States.
