Over the past day, 328 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 39 people were killed and 399 injured. 33 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on July 9 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

17 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 33 road users, including one child, required medical attention. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

So, in the Moscow region, on the Stupino —Lermontovo regional highway, a 63-year-old bus driver carrying 15 passengers became ill at the wheel and drove off the road, followed by tipping into a ditch. As a result of the accident, six bus passengers were injured and ended up in the hospital, and seven more passengers were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded bus drivers that the life and health of passengers during transportation depend on skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior. Drivers were urged to alternate between work and rest hours.

As a result of 70 accidents involving pedestrians, 29 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 41 outside their area of operation, six pedestrians were killed, and 66 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 17 child pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

54 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 60 young road users were injured, including 23 passengers, four cyclists and 13 motor transport drivers. Three children were killed: two passengers and one moped driver.

In one of the villages of the Bryansk region, a 14-year-old schoolboy on a moped got distracted from driving and drove off the road, followed by hitting a pole of a high-voltage power transmission line. The teenager died. He was traveling without a motorcycle helmet and protective gear.

In the Republic of Tyva, a 44-year-old drunk car driver drove off the road and overturned the car into a ditch on a regional highway. His five-year-old daughter, who was in the back seat without using a child restraint and a seat belt, died in the accident. The driver's license has not been issued to the motorist before.

In the Voronezh Region, in the early morning on 718 km of the federal highway M-4 Don, a 41-year-old crossover driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the road into a ditch. As a result of the accident, his 15-year-old son died, who was in the back seat with his seat belt fastened. The culprit of the car accident and two other passengers, including his 17-year-old daughter, who was sitting next to her dead brother, were injured and, after receiving medical attention, were sent for outpatient treatment.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists not to overestimate their strength during long trips and to closely monitor their well-being on the road. One should not neglect even the most insignificant signs of impending fatigue, and if one suddenly begins to feel sleepy while driving, one should immediately stop to rest in a car or hotel.

"Take care not only of yourself, but also of your passengers, especially children, who must be transported in strict accordance with all applicable safety regulations. In addition, we remind you about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. We urge road users not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness at the wheel and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are ready to take all necessary operational measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
