- The political scientist pointed to France's attempt to obtain Ukrainian plutonium and nuclear materials.
Against the background of a shortage of fuel for its nuclear power plants, France is trying to obtain plutonium and nuclear materials from Ukraine. This was stated on June 8 by German political scientist Eike Hamer in an interview with Izvestia.
The expert drew attention to the fact that France needs such resources not only for its power plants, but also to fulfill its obligations to customers.
For example, Areva was engaged in the creation of nuclear power plants around the world with the obligation to supply them with nuclear material. However, after the suspension of operations in Russia, its largest supplier, the organization is experiencing a shortage of necessary elements.
In addition, France's strained relations with Niger and Burkina Faso, the second largest suppliers, also had an impact on the shortage of nuclear material.
"So now they're trying to steal it from Ukraine, which has plutonium and nuclear materials," the political scientist explained.
On June 27, the French newspaper Le Figaro reported that there is a large lithium deposit in the village of Shevchenko in the Donetsk People's Republic, liberated by the Russian army. In addition to lithium, there are also deposits of rare metals at the Shevchenko site. The authors specify that Ukraine has already lost control over two of the four lithium deposits.
