Flood waters in Transbaikalia washed away a bridge between two settlements

In the Karymsky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory, a bridge between the villages of Solontsovo and Zhimbira was washed away as a result of flooding. The head of the latter, Alexey Slepukhin, told ChitaMedia news agency that residents did not immediately notice the destruction, since the blurred road made it impossible to get to the bridge.

"The water has not calmed down yet, but a detour through the villages has been organized: both large and passenger cars can pass through it. Special equipment is working to restore roads inside the village," the official said.

Workers will start rebuilding the bridge after the road is ready. Assistance is expected from a local mining company, which previously used the bridge to transport its equipment.

Heavy rains have been constantly falling in Transbaikalia since the evening of June 30. Precipitation extinguished wildfires, but brought new problems. Cases of flooding of household plots, erosion of roads and bridges have been recorded.

Last Friday, July 4, it was reported that the water level in most of the rivers of Transbaikalia will rise all weekend. On July 2, the prosecutor's office began inspections due to the destruction of infrastructure during heavy rains.
