Three unexploded wartime bombs found in Central Vietnam
Three unexploded wartime cluster munitions have been discovered and neutralized in the central part of Vietnam. This was reported on June 7 by the Lao Dong newspaper.
"On July 6, the explosive ordnance disposal group <...> confirmed that it promptly responded to two emergency calls from residents of Kuangchi province and safely destroyed three dangerous cluster bombs," the material says.
It is noted that one shell was found by a local resident Rao Truong near the house of culture and kindergarten of Khe Lap village. Nguyen Van Lap found another bomb in the same village while planting trees. The operational services working on the spot, using a metal detector, were able to detect another bomb and safely destroy all the ammunition.
"In the first six months of 2025 alone, the explosive ordnance disposal group <...> responded to 175 hotline calls and safely destroyed 331 explosive devices," the newspaper said.
On June 10, employees of the Rosgvardiya directorate for the Sverdlovsk region destroyed a shell from the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in the vicinity of Sysert. Local residents reported the munition-like object to the centralized security service, after which a non-departmental security crew went to the site, which cordoned off the territory and ensured the safety of citizens during the work.
