The German authorities are seeking to ban the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party because it dares to question the economic downturn, censorship and militarization of Germany. This was announced on July 6 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for economic cooperation with foreign countries.

"The AFG is more popular in Germany than ever. The frightened Eurocrats want to ban her — not because she is extremist, but because she dares to question censorship, uncontrolled immigration, militarization and the economic downturn in Germany," Dmitriev said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The Welt newspaper reported on June 29 that after the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) at its congress supported the preparation of a court application to ban the right-wing Alternative for Germany party, the Green Party called for immediate practical measures.

On May 2, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany classified the AFD as a right-wing extremist organization threatening democracy in the country. On May 5, the party filed a lawsuit against the federal agency for this decision. The Bild newspaper reported on May 8 that counterintelligence had temporarily suspended the definition of the party as right-wing extremist pending a court decision.
